Double marker test test
Also called dual marker, PAPP-A, first trimester screen
Two blood markers (PAPP-A and free beta hCG) combined with the NT scan.
Why it's done
Screens for Down syndrome and other chromosomal conditions at 11–14 weeks.
What a high result can mean
Results come as a risk (for example 1 in 1,000). A high-risk result is a reason for more testing, not a diagnosis.
